R and RStudio Workshop

On 18th April 2021, I had the honor of being invited as a facilitator at a biochemistry department workshop called Education and Training (EDTA). The main topic of the workshop was using Statistics in biochemistry research, especially for undergraduate final projects. The workshop was led by Dr. Waras Nurcholis, S.Si., M.Si, a well-known Biochemistry lecturer, who explained the basic theory of statistical analysis and how to use RStudio.

The workshop had 50 participants, mostly third-year students preparing for their final research projects. I taught four main topics using RStudio, focusing on how to apply them in real research. These topics were: Introduction to RStudio, Exploratory Data Analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and the Post-hoc Tukey Test.

During the workshop, I showed participants how to install RStudio and how to load and manage data. In Exploratory Data Analysis, I explained how to summarize and visualize data. I also taught them how to perform ANOVA, a statistical test to check differences between group means, and how to interpret the results. Finally, I explained the Post-hoc Tukey Test to compare pairs of means after ANOVA.

Overall, the workshop was very successful. The participants learned useful practical skills and gained a better understanding of how to use Statistics in biochemistry research with RStudio.

Module for self-learning

To help participants learn on their own, I created a module in Bahasa Indonesia. This was based on the workshop’s duration and topics. The module gives a complete guide to the subject and helps students continue learning independently.
