In 2021, the students’ association Gamma Sigma Beta, Department of Statistics, organized an event called Statistics Academy. The goal was to help members improve their skills and knowledge. Statistics Academy is held every year and usually focuses on topics like applying Statistics in professional work, surveys and sampling in politics, trends in data science, and machine learning. For 2021, the main theme was Market Research.
As a moderator, I managed the discussion between the speaker, Rahmanu Ganesya, and the participants. The topic was sentiment analysis in market research. Many participants were very interested because they could build a machine learning model for sentiment analysis and compete for secret awards based on the model’s accuracy.
During the discussion, we talked about why sentiment analysis is important in market research, how to build a model, how to use the right data, and how to understand the results. The event gave participants useful practical experience and knowledge in both market research and machine learning.
